Extreme SleddingOn Friday, February 24th, our Grade 7 students participated in the annual Extreme Sledding Competition, hosted by Skills Manitoba at Juniper Elementary School. Students designed and constructed sleds from cardboard, wood, duct tape and nails. The teams earned points throughout the day for how well they worked together and created their sled.
Six teams raced against their classmates for first place and the results were as follows:
The Unknowns: 18 Seconds
Juniper Giraffe: 21 Seconds
Power Sleds: 25 Seconds
Speedy Demons: 31 Seconds
Half Nuts: 32 Seconds
Sled Heads: 32 Seconds
The Unknowns was the fastest finishing the race in 18 seconds. However, Juniper Giraffe’s was the overall winner, making the highest point of the day. Each member of the Juniper Giraffe’s received a $10 gift card. Each member of the Unknowns received a set of UV reactive sunglasses that change colour in the sun. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this annual event. Skills Manitoba looks forward to our competition next year with grade 7 students!
